Why it’s important to be in photos with your kids
I don’t want to let my baby girl look back on photographs from the best times of our lives, and not find me anywhere.
This has to be the number one reason why you need to be in photos with your kids!
I know photos aren’t everything. Beauty is in the moment and the love and connection you share with your children. But photos are like the ultimate time machine, that’s the magic in them. I truly believe the happiest time in our lives is when our kids are little, when family is everything in their world, when you enjoy holidays together, when you can pick them up for cuddles and wooshies, when they won’t let you leave at daycare drop off or when they want one more mama kiss and cuddle before they go to sleep.
It’s a cliche, but so true... kids really do grow up way too fast. We hear it repeatedly from friends and family “oh she’s grown so much”. And that’s the thing… they’re right. Scarily right. They keep growing and one day soon they’ll be teenagers!
Doesn’t it make you want to stop time, bottle it up so you (and your kids) can look back at this time and remember how your lives were filled with so much beauty and happiness? Like I’ll look back on my photos with Maddie in 20 years’ time and suddenly remember not only what she looked like when she was 3 years old, but how she fit in my arms just so and how happy I smiled when I felt her holding on so tight. I’ll run my wrinkled hands over the shadows of her smile, and suddenly I’ll be smiling, the biggest smile, I’ll be crying, and I’ll call her on the phone. We might not have talked for days, and we’ll have the most wonderful conversation.
If you’re like me, you’re the photo taker. You have a million photos of your littles and a bunch of way-too-close-up selfies on your phone. There’s sweet photos of Dad and the kids (because you took the photo) and UNFLATTERING photos of you and the kids (because Dad took the photo).
Getting beautiful photos taken of yourself is not silly, it’s not vain and it’s not a waste of money. It’s a cherished memory captured forever. And it’s important.
a session with Jo is more than just refreshing your family photos
Our photo session may only last a short time, but the moments we create will last forever. You’re the family historian, and a family photography session is your way to preserve everything you love about your family, exactly as they are now, to be remembered 20, 50 or even 100 years from now!
If you’re ready to book your next photoshoot, pop over to my contact page and drop me a line, view my portfolio or find out more about my prices and packages. I’d love to work with you!
